I am new to quilting and to sewing in general, but I saw some of the videos that Jenny posts on you tube and it got me really started. Until that point I have only sewed one thing and did not know what I was doing when I did that. I made a few projects by following along and I was able to take the technique and adapt it to my ideas and fabrics.
Very quick to take your money, not so quick to send the fabric. There are lots of places to buy fabric with much better service. A few of my favorites are Shabby Fabrics, Bear Creek Fabrics, and Connecting Threads. None of these charge your credit card BEFORE shipping your order. I just think Missouri Star has gotten too big to either care or know what's going on. They are really NOT the only or the cheapest place to go.... For those who get their cards charged and no fabric, all you have to do is call your credit card company to get the charges reversed.
So thank you all very much for making my learning experience fun and accessible.
The precut bundles that I ordered feel like a good quality and the patterns are vibrant and fun. I was also able to order a pattern that I needed for a quilting class that I am taking.
Might be nice at the stores but their shipping is very dissatisfactory. Ordered product eight days ago and it isn’t here yet! This is the second time it has happened. The first time I had to call to even get my package shipped. Of course, they charged my card on the day I ordered. Wont be buying from them in the future.
I decided to order from the website and I was pretty pleased. The shipping was as quick as anyone else. If you understand the postal system and have realistic expectations you will be pleased.
It is not illegal, but it is unethical for an online seller to charge your credit card before they ship. HOWEVER, your particular credit card company probably doesn’t allow it.
Lovely stores. Great staff. Great assortment. The only downside of having fabric in 12 stores is that it is that you can't match fabrics without buying them and then taking them to another store (unlike a large quilt shop where you can wander around and find things to match without being committed to a purchase)
I have in my possession an email from Missouri Quilt Co saying it always does this, and so does everyone else. Baloney!!!
If you order fabric from them make sure you don’t need I️t anytime soon. Order fabric over a week and half ago, called a week after I ordered it, I️t hadn’t even been cut yet! Told them I needed it by Wednesday, they said they’d get it cut that day and shipped ASAP. It’s now Wednesday and I don’t even have shipping information. Use to love this shop but won’t be shopping here again.
I am sure that as with any company there may be issues here and there, but so far I am very pleased with my experiences. The daily deal emails have some pretty nice discounts too.
“According to the Federal Trade Commission many credit card issuers do not allow merchants to charge your credit card before they ship. If you want to pursue this, you should contact your credit card issuer and ask about its policies for prematurely charging your account. You can then send a complaint letter with specific information about this merchant.”
